TELLTALE
Soon after Lucasarts' shutdown, and cancellation of
Sam & Max: Freelance police, the Sam & Max property would lay dormant for a while, until some ex-Lucasarts employees formed Telltale studios, who would go on to create interactive, higher-quality 3D point-n-clicks. The studio would shut down later, and reform later again. Many beloved games were created by Telltale, including...
SAVE THE WORLD
Sam & Max Save the world! was the first of 3 games created and published by Telltale for their Sam & Max series of games. It follows a hypnotism-themed plot through 6 loosely-linked "episodes" released sequentially. The game featured new voice actors, David Nowlin and William Kasten for both Sam & Max respectively. While Andrew Chaiken voiced Max for episode 1, he couldn't continue due to health issues.

Tell-Tale's Touched-Up Toon-Terrorizers
The game was a critical success and set up a good lineage of games to come from Telltale. It featured brand-spankin' new 3D models for Sam & Max, and was released on many of it's time's platforms, including a Wii port! It's wonderful jazz soundtrack was provided by Jared Emerson-Johnson orchestra, and featured more than 1 song in beautiful MP3 quality! The game was dubbed "Gaming's first sitcom" by many outlets and is considered an old game today.
BEYOND TIME AND SPACE
The second game in the Telltale Trilogy of Sam & Max, featuring a new engine, prettier graphics and a calibration menu with more realistic animations, the new season also had a hint system, updated dialogue systems, and support for widescreen. Where the first game was somewhat fantastical, talking rats, anthro police, BTAS was just absolutely insane.

Coverart for Beyond Time And Space
This game takes our now time-travelling, death-defying, christmas-saving, space-travelling protaganists to- literally, hell and back. Plus the north pole, plus easter island, and some more. The game is once again scored by JEJ Orchestra and released for most major platforms, including Ipad, in the same sequential episodic fashion, voiced by the same legends, and once again, an amazing title for Sam & Max.
THE DEVIL'S PLAYHOUSE
The final game in Telltale's Freelance Police trilogy, released in 2010 for most major platforms(including iPad!), The Devil's Playhouse takes the cake for craziest Sam & Max game, involving entire other galaxies in this mystery. JEJ Orchestra takes on the challenge of Sam & Max one more time, and the VAs return to bring life to these psychopathic lunatics.

The game centers around Max's Power, and the consequences of it. The Psychic Toys Of Power allow you to play as Max in certain scanrios as you attempt to find your way around the nightmarish reality that is ripped and shredded apart as the Freelance Police give one last death-defying shot to their careers! Oh, and Sal is there, too. We like Sal.
